For Sale: UC Commander, 2022 Registered AMHA Gelding

UC Commander, aka Chief, is a three year old (DOB 4/29/2022) registered Morgan gelding by the winning stallion, UC Domination. I purchased Chief in May 2024 (successful PPE done by Tufts) from the University of Connecticut where he was bred and born and spent the first two years of his life. UConn has a phenomenal breeding program where the students work with the young horses and then sell them as two year olds. I purchased Chief as a way to support the college's equestrian programs (so many schools are doing away with them! ). I could not have asked for a more well-rounded young horse. Chief came to me with a brave, inquisitive, and kind personality which immediately captivated me and, quiet frankly, had me obsessed with this little chestnut gelding. Always the first to greet you at the gate, this guy absolutely loves being around people. He's engaging, curious and super intelligent. All hallmarks of the Morgan breed. In the time that Chief has been with me, we've done extensive ground and lunging work and loads of desensitization; all setting the foundation for a successful transition into undersaddle work. Chief has been lightly ridden bareback in a rope halter, and has proven to be very uncomplicated. He really picks up on things quickly and he is progressing at a wonderful rate. I even trust this boy so much, that I've given my 7 year old son and his friend pony rides on him. He's just that level headed and calm! I also use Chief for a lesson student who is interested in learning the fundamentals of ground work, and he's proven to be a wonderful teacher for her as well. I know that not everybody is in the market for a green-backed three year old, but just give this horse a few more months and he's going to be the one that everybody wants!!! This is the all-around type that everybody is always looking for, but so rarely can be found. I've been training and selling horses for a long time, and this horse has that *it factor* that you don't come across often. It's hard to say what discipline he'll be best at because I truly think he's a blank slate and can do so much. I honestly see him being the type of horse you could take to a fox hunt on a Saturday and then go win a dressage show on a Sunday and then trail ride on a long rein on Monday. He's just super versatile and up for anything. You really get the feeling when you're working with him that he just wants to do everything you ask and have fun with you. Everybody from my vet to my farrier says what a great horse he is and how you can just tell he's going to mature into something really special. He's the easier keeper (ration balancer and first cut hay), is barefoot with terrific feet, loads and unloads in the trailer like a dream and is good in new places. UTD on everything and ready to find a home that's going to continue to bring out all this guy has to offer. Priced at $12,500 - to increase with training.

New Horses Coming Soon!

"I purchased a horse from Michelle and had a great experience. Felicity was exactly as represented in her ad. Michelle was very responsive throughout the process, and clearly cared about the horse and making a good match for her. I would recommend her to anybody looking for a new equine partner."
