"Michelle has a natural gift for teaching. You can be a great rider, and still not be able to teach or connect in an effective way, but Michelle does it flawlessly. She has a wonderful sense of when to push and when to reward a rider. Simply put, she's just good at it!"

Lessons at Kohn Equine, LLC.

Our Philosophy

At Kohn Equine, we believe that the best type of learning happens when you and your horse are having fun! Whether you're a first-time rider or a seasoned competitor, the time you spend in the saddle should be enjoyable. We focus on structuring our lessons so that horse and rider are being set up for success, and we strive to build confidence by creating a strong foundation on which a rider can grow. No matter what your short or long-term goals may be, Michelle will work with you to take the steps necessary to achieve them!

We offer lessons in the areas of hunter/jumpers, equitation and dressage. We also have western tack for those riders whose preference is western riding.

Riding Lessons

Mini Lessons

For our tiniest riders, ages 3-5

This lesson program is intended to give our smallest future equestrians a taste of what it's like to ride and build their excitement for a future in equestrian sports. Lessons are 15-minutes long and follow a "pony ride" type format. Riders will be led at the walk on our quietest and most gentle mounts while learning the most basic concepts of riding. Parents/caregivers will be required to remain at the rider's side throughout the duration of their ride.

Pony Pals Lessons

For beginner riders, ages 5-9

This lesson program is intended for first-time riders who are looking to explore their interest in the exciting world of horseback riding. Lessons are 30-minutes long and will focus on a mixture of barn safety, horse care and riding time.

Developing Rider Lessons

For advanced beginner - intermediate riders, all ages

This lesson program is intended for riders who have some prior experience and who are capable of riding independently at the walk and trot (at minimum). Riders should be able to groom and tack their horses with minimal help. Lessons are 45-minutes long and will be a mixture of horse care, riding and barn management concepts.

Advanced Rider Lessons

For advanced riders, all ages

This lesson program is intended for advanced riders who have previous experience riding independently at the walk, trot and canter (at minimum). Riders should be able to groom and tack their horse without assistance. Lessons are 60-minutes long and will focus on the more advanced concepts of riding theory, equitation, and rider biomechanics.

Competition Prep - Ride, Review, Re-Ride Lessons

For competitive riders, all ages

This lesson program is intended for riders looking for a more intensive horse show preparation experience prior to attending a competition. Lessons are 60-minutes long and will focus on the rider's area of competition with a more intense ride, review, re-ride format. We will also go over general horse show preparation and readiness.

Virtual Lessons

Don't live close enough for an in-person lesson? That's not a problem with our virtual lessons, which allow Michelle to teach riders from remote locations all across the globe! Recommend for intermediate - advanced riders. Rider is responsible for the procurement of proper technology to facilitate the lesson. Michelle recommends use of a Pivo + Bluetooth earphones.

"Michelle was everything I was looking for in a trainer. As an adult rider who had not jumped in 10+ years, I was looking for a trainer who could take a joke when I made a mistake, but who would also be serious and tell me how to correct things. Michelle's lessons are full of learning and fun."
