Offered for on-farm half lease:
5 year old, 16.3h Thoroughbred gelding located at Wenham Farm in Carver, MA. Willett is a young, promising gelding who is looking for a capable, ambitious half-leaser. Ideal candidate would be an experienced rider looking for a young horse that has massive potential, but whom is still green and needs mileage. Willett is athletic, willing, smart and capable, and has an extremely bright future in the jumper and dressage arenas. Currently, Willett's potential outweights his experience, but for the right rider who is able to put in some time and effort, this is an amazing opportunity to have ground-level access to a horse with upper-level potential. Willett prefers a rider who is confident, quiet, balanced, and tactful with their hands and seat. Willett is a good-natured boy who tries his best under saddle, but who still makes typical green-horse mistakes. So, somebody who can take that in stride, ride past it without getting flustered, and give him a positive experience is key. Willett often looks to his rider for confidence, and therefore is better matched with a rider who can provide him that confidence by drawing from their own experience and knowledge. Currently jumping 2'-2'3" and schooling Training Level dressage, but has incredible talent for more. Despite his natural talent, we are focusing on smaller jumps and improving fundamental flatwork until he's more experienced and sure of himself. We want him to have a great foundation and are not in a rush to jump bigger or go up the levels until he shows us that he is ready. Lease will include 4 rides per week, one of which will be a required lesson with on-site instructor (jumping permitted in lessons only). Horse showing options are available but not required. We would love to find a rider who would like to do a mix of dressage and hunter/jumper work, but this horse could excel going in either direction and we are happy to welcome a rider who might like to focus on one or the other exclusively. Wenham Farm offers a positive and support environment, indoor and outdoor arenas, trail access and much more. Video and pricing information available by request.
